Reformed Theological Seminary to Continue Redeemer Legacy

The Board of Trustees of Redeemer Seminary has formally asked Reformed Theological Seminary (RTS) to continue the Redeemer legacy and offer rigorous, reverent, reformed evangelical graduate theological education in Dallas and throughout the great state of Texas.   The Board of RTS has accepted this invitation and will seek accreditation approval to establish its own campus in Dallas, in addition to its other Texas campus located in Houston.  Effective December 31, 2016, every student at Redeemer Seminary will be able to continue their theological studies with RTS.

Ligon Duncan, Chancellor and CEO of RTS remarked “this means that RTS will now help fulfill the cherished aspirations of the Redeemer Board, and our own mission, which is to ‘serve the Church by preparing its leaders, through a high quality program of graduate theological education, based upon the authority of the inerrant Word of God and committed to the Reformed Faith’ by launching a campus in Dallas.”

Redeemer Seminary was originally established in Dallas in 1999 as the Texas campus for Westminster Theological Seminary.  In 2009, it was converted to an independent seminary.  In recent years, the Redeemer Board of Trustees recognized the importance of aligning its efforts with a more established, like-minded seminary, in order to better serve its students and churches throughout the Southwest that subscribed to reformed theological doctrine, and therefore reached out to RTS for assistance.

Reformed Theological Seminary is celebrating its 50th Anniversary in 2016, and currently has eight other campuses located throughout the United States with a total enrollment of approximately 1,600 students and 40 full-time faculty members.
